Your Blog Popular as Facebook
Posted by ramicaOct 22
I was so curious how facebook became so popular, how they gained constant registration of new users, and reasons why people seems to get addicted to this social network. This is actually what I dreamt of. I want my blog to be popular as facebook.
Let’s take a look with Facebook History:
Facebook started as an exclusive social network for Harvard students and expanded to other universities such as MIT, Boston College, Boston University, Northeastern University and all Ivy League after two months. It was created because of facemash incident. Then mark wrote an editorial about it then became a talk around Harvard. The website was introduced by Mark Zuckerburg to his couple of friends. One of his friends suggested submitting this to Kirkland mailing list and they watched how the subscription grows larger during that night.
How your blog will gain such popularity?:
In relation to how facebook became popular, you can notice that they also use technique in introducing their website to the people. Whether you will agree to it or not, they promote their website using mailing list. I think also that Mark has planned beforehand how this website will be popular since he had written an editorial about a centralized website and during that time he was making already a website.
You should get by now what is my idea behind, that to make your blog popular you should make your blog get noticed by other people. Then establish a connection to other. Get linked. Remember, you just have to connect, connect, and connect just how facebook did.

I agree that mailing list helps in gaining popularity but these days most of the people consider this as spam. And mroeover there are so many other ways to get traffic and getting website authority like Twitter or others.

The righteous logic but a blog would never gain as much traffic as a social web like facebook does.

For me, having small focused follower is more important than having thousands of followers who are just ignoring your updates.

I used friendster before I start to use facebook. Friendster was a hit thing during my high school, yet, after started with facebook, I never go back to friendster. I find it easy to connect with my long lost friend with Facebook.
I do agree having subscription service on blog, will bring back the old viewers. At the same time, my concern on spam too, i find it annoying. Therefore, I think rss feed, twitter and blogs followers are good enough, as readers can always choose to subscribe and unsubscribe whenever they want.
